Safetrac has partnered with former Australian Defence Force Major, internationally-recognised leadership strategist and author of Caught in the Crossfire, Matina Jewell, to launch her leadership skills training program online.
Unlike any other leadership training in the market, it is aimed at equipping employees at all stages of their leadership journey with the capabilities to deal with increasingly complex and rapidly-changing operating environments.
Major Matina Jewell (Retired), who held several leadership positions during her military career including United Nations Peacekeeper in Syria and Lebanon and as a Prime Ministerial advisor, has designed the Leadership in Action series around six core skills to drive effective leadership, build organisational performance, and develop skills to thrive in leadership roles.
The six modules encompass:
- stepping-up to ‘sudden’ leadership opportunities;
- empowering delegation to get more done;
- communicating with clarity;
- building workplace connection;
- decision-making to manage risk under pressure; and
- adopting a Dutiful® leadership style.
Deborah Coram, CEO Safetrac, said the initiative to translate Matina’s innovative face-to-face training to an online environment responds to growing demand among corporate Australia for a scalable program that helps managers navigate and lead through a period of unparalleled and widespread disruption playing out across many industry sectors.
From increasingly complex regulatory and legislative environments to governance by royal commission, to uncertain economic and geo-political conditions, the need for effective leadership to drive organisational performance has never been greater
Ms Coram said.
Our clients are telling us that while the next generation of managers are technically sound, many struggle with the ambiguity that comes during times of rapid change and industry disruption.
Effective leadership is the single-most important driver of a positive workplace culture, and that’s why organisations need to invest more time and effort into developing people that can lead from the front, particularly the increasing number who find themselves thrust into management positions with little notice or preparation
Ms Coram said.
Matina Jewell said 2020 presented a raft of leadership challenges that required fresh approaches.
As a leadership strategist and in my work with companies and leaders all over the world, it’s clear that the next decade will include more political uncertainty, technological disruption, market instability and vast changes to the way we work. Preparing leaders to navigate their organisations through these social and economic challenges is vital
she said.
My experience in the military taught me what it is like to lead people under pressure in some of the toughest environments on earth, and the Leadership in Action series applies those learnings to the challenges facing the modern-day workplace.
I’m constantly hearing from individual participants that they want their whole team to benefit from the type of training I offer, and by partnering with Safetrac I am able to deliver the series on a larger scale through their award-winning training platform.
Queensland State Manager of Toyota Financial Services (TFS), Cameron Cunning, has experienced the effectiveness of Matina’s face-to-face training and her online training and recognised its value for his staff, and not just executives.
Mr Cunning states
The program is unlike any other offering in the market we’ve encountered. Matina has found an efficient way to connect her strategies and tools gained in the Australian Defence Force to our ever-busy workforce, and we look forward to rolling out the online training to further build our leadership capability at all levels of the business.
The six online modules, delivered to corporations through the Safetrac Training Platform, form a blended learning course with offline exercises and activities incorporating adult learning principals to help reinforce and embed the online learning.
